πŸ’› You May Have Heard We’re All Cowboys! πŸ’›

There is no avoiding it. Estate agents do not sit near the top of the trusted professions list.

In a recent survey by Ipsos, nurses ranked highest for trust at 92 percent. Estate agents appeared in the bottom ten at 32 percent. For context, politicians scored 9 percent and social media influencers 6 percent.

It raises a fair question. Why does estate agency rate so poorly?

🀠 The β€œWild West” Reputation

The industry is sometimes described as the wild west. A place full of cowboys and questionable practices.

The reality today is very different.

Estate agency is more regulated than ever before. There are extensive legal requirements, codes of practice and consumer protection laws that must be followed. Guidance and compliance standards continue to tighten, not loosen.

Higher entry standards across the industry would still be welcome, but regulation is already significant and increasing.

πŸ“œ Regulation and Professional Standards

Agents must operate within strict frameworks covering marketing, transparency, anti money laundering compliance, consumer protection and data handling.

On top of legal requirements, there are professional bodies and networks that hold members to even higher standards.

We are proud members of the Ethical Agent Network. Membership is not automatic. Independent assessment is required and ongoing standards must be maintained.

Agents who fail to meet professional expectations rarely last. The modern market is far too transparent.

🌐 Transparency Has Changed the Industry

The internet has transformed accountability.

Online reviews, including those on Google, allow sellers and buyers to assess service quality before making contact. Social media makes it easier than ever to see how an agency operates day to day.

Reputation is visible and measurable. Poor service is quickly exposed. Consistency and integrity are rewarded.

βš–οΈ Not All Agents Are Equal

It would be unrealistic to claim every agent operates to the same standard. They do not.

Sellers are right to ask questions. Clear contracts, transparent fees and honest valuations should be expected, not treated as bonuses.

As an independent local agency, our approach is straightforward:

β€’ Realistic market valuations based on evidence
β€’ Clear and fair sales agreements
β€’ Transparent fee structures
β€’ Honest communication throughout the process

We are not focused solely on securing a transaction. We work with sellers, buyers with long-term relationships in mind.

🀝 Community and Long-Term Reputation

Trust is built through consistency.

We support our local community where possible and rely heavily on repeat business and referrals. Recommendations from previous clients are earned through service, not marketing slogans.

No agency builds a sustainable reputation through short-term thinking.

🌿 Estate Agency Done Ethically

Being part of the Ethical Agent Network means meeting strict standards of honesty, professionalism, service and community care.

It also means accountability. Membership requires independent verification and ongoing commitment.

Trust cannot be demanded. It has to be demonstrated.

If questions about selling or the way we operate would help build clarity, we are always available for an open conversation.
