🍰 Three Tips to Make Afternoon Tea Extra Special
☕ 1. Make it yourself, make it local
Homemade always tastes better. If you can, prepare your own sandwiches, scones, and cakes. Classic fillings like cucumber, egg mayo, and smoked salmon never go out of style.
Try to use local ingredients too – fresh eggs, regional cheeses, artisan ham, and locally made jam can really elevate the spread.
And don’t worry if you need to cheat a little with shop-bought bits. It’s the thought (and taste) that counts!
🎉 2. The more the merrier
Afternoon tea is lovely for two, but it’s even better with a few guests. More people means more conversation, more laughter, and more cake-sharing!
Invite family you haven’t seen for a while, neighbours, or even your work team – who says you can’t have afternoon tea at the office?
To make it easier and more fun, ask each guest to bring a different treat. Or go one step further and turn it into a mini fundraiser for a local cause.
Just remember to check if anyone has allergies or dietary needs. There’s more to tea than cream and jam!
🫖 3. Go to town with the tea
Tea is the star of the show – no coffee allowed!
If you usually stick to English Breakfast, why not try something new? Earl Grey is the classic choice, but Assam, Darjeeling, or Oolong all add a touch of elegance.
For a fresh twist, serve lemon instead of milk. You can also offer green tea, fruit infusions, or iced tea for a cooler option.
Feel free to include a glass of bubbly or homemade lemonade – just make sure there’s a proper pot of tea on the table too.
💡 Pass it on
If you know someone who could use a cheerful afternoon, share these tips with them. A little tea and company can go a long way.
