๐ How to Avoid a Last Minute Back to School Scramble
All good things must come to an end, even the summer holidays. While you may not want to think about it yet, a bit of preparation now can save you from a last minute panic when the new term begins. The return to drop offs, pick ups and homework can be a shock for the whole family, so here are three simple tips to make the transition easier.
๐ Check uniform and supplies
Donโt leave it until the day before school to check uniform and stationery. Items such as school shoes often sell out quickly. Have your child try on their uniform well in advance, especially if theyโve been at school a few years. Summer growth spurts are common, and what once fitted may now be far too short or tight.
โฐ Reset routines
Bedtimes often slide during the holidays, but itโs best to get back into a school routine before the first day arrives. Bring back earlier bedtimes and discourage long lie ins so mornings wonโt be a battle. A well rested child will be more focused and ready to learn.
๐ฌ Talk things through
Some children are excited to return, while others feel nervous or anxious. Ask your child how theyโre feeling and reassure them that youโre there to listen. Focus on the positives such as seeing friends, school trips or sports clubs starting up again. Talking openly will help ease any worries.
A little planning goes a long way. Share these tips with a friend who could use a smoother start to the school year.
