π€ Looking for an Estate Agent? Trust Should Come First π€
β±οΈ 2-minute read
Trust is not always the first word people link with estate agency. That is a problem.
Selling a home means placing a lot of responsibility in someone elseβs hands. The advice given, the pricing strategy used, and the way a sale is handled can affect money, timescales, and stress levels.
That makes trust a serious part of the process. So, what makes an estate agent trustworthy?
βοΈ It starts with honesty. A trustworthy agent will not say whatever sounds best just to win an instruction. Good advice should be clear, realistic, and based on evidence. Sometimes that may mean suggesting a price that feels lower than expected, but the aim should always be the best possible outcome, not just winning the listing.
π Transparency matters too. Fees, contracts, tie-in periods, marketing costs, and terms should all be explained clearly from the start. There should be no hidden clauses, no confusing language, and no pressure to sign before everything has been understood.
π Communication is another big part of trust. One of the most common frustrations sellers face is being left in the dark. A reliable agent gives regular updates, explains what is happening, and stays available when questions come up. It sounds basic, but it can make the whole process feel far less stressful.
π₯ The way people are treated also matters. The best agents do not see clients as transactions. They deal fairly with sellers, buyers, solicitors, landlords, tenants, and the wider community. Good estate agency is not just about getting a sale agreed. It is about doing the right thing throughout the process.
Reputation also tells a story. Consistent reviews, strong feedback, repeat business, and visible local involvement all help show whether an agent can be relied on.
Property sales do not always run smoothly. Delays, survey issues, chain problems, and changing circumstances can all happen. When challenges come up, the quality and integrity of the agent become even more important.
Choosing carefully at the start can save time, money, and stress later.
Estate Agency Done Ethically
We are trying to help fix the trust issues many people have around estate agents. That is why we are proud to be a member of the Ethical Agent Network. The Ethical Agent Network is an independent body that checks our work against strict standards for honesty, service, and the way we look after our clients, colleagues, and community. We are the only local agency to have passed the Ethical Agent Network standard, and we are assessed every six months to make sure those standards stay high.
